Allirajah Subaskaran is a serial entrepreneur who has spent more than 25 years in key leadership positions; the businesses he has acquired and built have achieved annual revenues exceeding £1 billion in the global telecoms and mobile industry. His business activities have also resulted in the creation of more than 10,000 jobs globally, and he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in Business Administration from AMIST University in Malaysia.

In October 2013 (when it was at its peak growth), the Sunday Times ranked Lycamobile number four in its Top Track 250 list. The company’s mobile user base now stands at 16 million customers.
The Asian Achievers Awards’ Platinum Award for Businessperson of the Year, the Golden Peacock Award for Entrepreneurship and the International Business Awards’ Gold Award for Entrepreneurship are just a few of the accolades bestowed upon Allirajah over the years to mark his business success. He was also the recipient of the Global Philanthropy Award in December 2021, which was presented to him by the US civil rights icon Reverend Jesse Jackson.

Allirajah is a Tamil of Sri Lankan origin; he moved to Europe in the 1980s as a teenager. Now a British National, he hopes to one day regain his Sri Lankan nationality. Since 2009 he has been a member of the Advisory Council of King Charles III’s founded British Asian Trust, representing Sri Lanka.
This organisation delivers high-quality programmes in South Asia, specialising in and championing the use of social finance products to promote positive change across the region. To this end, the British Asian Trust tackles the problems that hold communities back, focusing on the areas of education, livelihoods, anti-trafficking, mental health and conservation.

He also enjoys cricket, football, swimming, cycling, traveling and watching Tamil movies. Reflecting his passion for sport, Lyca owns a cricket team in India’s Tamil Nadu Premier League, the Lyca Kovai Kings, as well as a team in Sri Lanka’s Premier League, the Lyca Jaffna Kings, both of which won their respective tournaments in the 2022 seasons. Lycamobile has also been a supporter and sponsor of the English Premiere League football team West Ham United since 2010 and owns a share in the French football team Paris F.C.
