Allirajah Subaskaran is well-known for his philanthropic activities. In 2010 he founded Lyca’s Gnanam Foundation with his wife, Prema. The foundation is named after the entrepreneur’s mother, Gnanambikai Allirajah, and provides funds for the poorest areas of the world and to those most in need.
The Foundation’s mission is to improve lives on a community, family and individual basis, providing long-term stability rather than temporary improvements. It helps communities achieve independence by providing them with safety, shelter, medical care and the means to develop their skills. By leasing wireless capacity from a third-party MNO (Mobile Network Operator) at wholesale prices, the MVNO can resell this capacity (effectively, ‘minutes, texts and data’) to consumers at a reduced retail price and under its own business brand. Lyca is currently aspiring to launch MVNO and MNO networks globally.
The Lyca Group is now entering a new era, developing innovative digital-first customer experiences and new business possibilities within a rapidly changing digital landscape. The company is investing in cutting-edge digital resources and the talented staff integral to its ongoing vision.
